Leap of Faith

PAGE ONE (Splash)

Panel 1. A shot of a spaceship heading towards a barren Mars like planet. It’s the year 3060 so be creative with the spaceship design.

CAPTION:

In the year 3060, space explorers stumble upon something that will forever change the course of human history.

PAGE 2 (4 Panels, two smaller panels next to each other in the top row, and two long horizontal panels filling up the rest of the page)

Panel 1. Cockpit view of ship breaking through the planets atmosphere. Have at least two people in the foreground looking out the window. The atmosphere should be very cloudy and dusty. The surface should be hidden from view still.

CAPTAIN:

This is the SS Herodotus. We’re coming in on Gliese 581 g, preparing to land.

CREW MEMBER:

I don’t know what they expect us to find here. This whole Gliese system has been a dead end so far.

Panel 2. Same cockpit view as before, only this time the atmosphere is cleared away and you can see an alien city below. The city is in ruins and nothing looks alive on the planet below.

CAPTAIN:

Still think this was a waste of time?

CREW MEMBER:

Holy shit…

Panel 3. Show the ship gliding over the ruined alien city. No alien bodies yet, just the ruined city.

Panel 4. The ship lands safely just outside of the ruined city.

PAGE 3 (5 panels, 3 rows, two panels each in the first two rows, one long panel in the last row)

Panel 1. The crew leaves the ship to explore. I’m thinking 3 to 5 crew members. They can all just be wearing space suits so you don’t need to make them unique or anything. Use an aerial view of them leaving the ship. It’s a post-apocalyptic alien city, so be creative. I don’t want it to look just like Earth.

Panel 2, 3, & 4. Just the crew walking through the city. All aerial shots, no dialogue, Just show off some alien architecture or whatever you want.

Panel 5. The crew comes across a large building that seems to be in better shape then the rest of the city. I was thinking of an over the shoulder view, looking up at the building.

PAGE 4 (4 panels, 3 rows, two panels in first row, one panel each in the remaining two rows)

Panel 1. The crew is standing in front of the door to the building. They are debating about what to do.

CREW MEMBER:

Captain are you sure we should be going in there?

CAPTAIN:

The planet is dead, you saw it.

Panel 2. The Captain pushes open the door as the crew looks on.

CPATAIN:

What’s the worst that could happen?

Panel 3. Ok, remember the pods that the machines kept the humans in from the Matrix? Well imagine that, but inside this building, and instead of humans it’s aliens. The shot I was thinking of would be way up high right next to one of the pods, looking down on the crew as they enter. Everything is very dark in there, most of the light coming from the open doorway.

CREW MEMBER:

Whoa…

Panel 4. The crew has walked up to the nearest pod, and their examining it. Be creative with how the alien looks like.

CREW MEMBER:

Is that…

CAPTAIN:

Yes, an alien.

PAGE 5 (5 panels, 3 rows, 1 long panel in the first row, 2 panels each in the remaining two rows)

Panel 1. Draw a scientist performing experiments on the alien body. The scientist is the main characters father, so draw him accordingly.

CAPTION:

The alien body was brought back to Earth immediately.

CAPTION:

The task of examining the alien body fell to Dr. Karl Drake, a biologist working for the government.

Panel 2. A close up shot of the alien on the slab in the lab as the Karl preforms an autopsy on it. Get creative with the aliens guts.

CAPTION:

I knew something was wrong during the autopsy.

CAPTION:

Everything was in too perfect a condition.

Panel 3. I was thinking of having the alien on the slab in the foreground, and have Karl in the background coming in for work with a shocked look on his face. The aliens autopsy wounds have all healed, thats why he looks so shocked.

CAPTION:

And when I came in the next day, all of his autopsy wounds had healed!

KARL:

My god…

Panel 4. Show Karl leaning over the alien body after performing a second autopsy. He should look completely shocked as he stares into the open chest cavity of the alien. Really bug his eyes out since you should’t be able to see his mouth due to the autopsy get-up he should be wearing.

CAPTION:
I performed a second autopsy immediately, and was shocked to find that even its organs had regenerated!

Panel 5. Show Karl looking into a microscope.

CAPTION: I had to find out what was keeping this body alive!

PAGE 6 (6 panels, 3 rows. 1 panel per row in the first two rows, and 4 small panels in the last row)

Panel 1. Have Karl giving a presentation to some top government officials about everything that he has learned about the alien. I was thinking power point but maybe you wanna get creative, it is the year 3060 after all.

CAPTION:

After I gave my report on the alien, my orders were to adapt this healing ability to humans.

Panel 2. Have the alien inside of a giant machine, with Karl standing over a control panel.

CAPTION:

Where I saw a regenerating corpse, they saw the fountain of youth!

CAPTION:

The genius of it struck me immediately. I dedicated myself to giving this power to humans.

CAPTION:

After much persuasion…

Panel 3. Karl and his wife having a big argument.

Panel 4. Karl begging with his wife as her back is turned and she’s crying.

Panel 5. Karl and his wife hugging.

Panel 6. Karl’s wife lying on an operating table with Karl holding her hand. Have other doctors in the background and stuff.

CAPTION:

I convinced my wife to let our son be the first test subject.

PAGE 7 (3 rows, 1 panel per row)

Panel 1. A shot of our main character as a new born baby. Maybe being held by his mom in the future hospital or something.

CAPTION:

Alex Monroe Drake was born on July 14th, 3065.

CAPTION:

He was born perfectly healthy and with no complications.

Panel 2. Show a woman in a hospital getting her eggs infused with the alien DNA. I’m not sure exactly what this should look like, but it’s over a thousand years from now so the sky’s the limit.

CAPTION:

It wasn’t long before my research became public.

CAPTION:

Parents from across the world clamored for the chance to make their child immortal.

Panel 3. Show Karl and his wife standing over their son’s crib.

CAPTION:

The alien DNA can only be introduced at conception, so no one currently alive can become immortal.

CAPTION:

But I accept my mortality. It’s enough to know that my son will never have cause to face it.

PAGE 8 (3 rows, 7 panels. 3 panels in the first row, the last two panels should be on top of each other. 1 panel in the second row. Third row just like the first row)

Panel 1. Show a nice suburban house, maybe a cool future car or two in the driveway. The main character should be at the front door talking to his mom who is inside the house. He’ll be 45 at this point, but I think he’ll look younger then that. I think the point of view should be from the street, or maybe aerial.

CAPTION:

3110, 45 years later

ALEX:

I came as soon as I heard.

MOTHER:

He’ll be glad to see you son, please come in.

Panel 2. Ok I was thinking this would be a bedroom converted into a hospital room. I was thinking the perspective should be from Karl’s bed, looking at the doorway as Alex enters. Remember, Karl is 45 years older. So he should be about 70 or 80.

ALEX:

Hi dad…

KARL:

Alex. *cough* *cough* So glad you could make it.

Panel 3. Just show Alex and Karl talking. Alex should be sitting at Karl’s bedside at this point. I’m not too picky about the angle this time, just make sure their both in the shot.

ALEX:

I thought you were going to stay in the hospital?

KARL:

*Cough* That place closed down about a month ago. It was getting too hard to pay the bills with everyone being born invincible and all.

Panel 4. Okay this is your big panel. They need to be talking still, and I have no preference on how you show that, just leave room for a lot of talk bubbles.

ALEX:

You almost sound resentful, I thought you were proud of saving humanity from what your going through now.

KARL:

I was when you were born. *Cough* But I see now that death is what gives meaning to life.

ALEX:

That’s nonsense dad! Think of all the great minds of the world that wont need to worry about death keeping them from their latest breakthrough. They could keep on benefiting mankind forever!

KARL:

It’s already beginning, society will be forever changed because of what I did. *Cough* And for that I and truly sorry.

Panel 5. Them talking again. Might wanna change up the angle now too. Hopefully you haven’t been using the same one for each panel.

ALEX:

You don’t know what your saying, you single-handedly cured every disease. You’ll go down in history as a hero!

KARL:

You’ll understand one day my son. *Cough* *Cough* Remember me when you do…Remember what I said today…

Panel 6. A shot of Karl’s heart monitor flat-lining.

ALEX:

Dad! No dad! Nooo!

Panel 7. A shot of Alex crying over his fathers body. Maybe even throw his mom in the door way crying as she looks on. Real dramatic scene so make it look extra sad.

PAGE 9 (11 panels, 4 rows. 1 long panel in the first row, 3 panels each in the second and third rows, and 4 panels in the fourth row.)

Panel 1. A wide shot of him sitting on his roof, drinking a cold beer with the sunset out in the distance.

CAPTION:

Later that night.

Panel 2. Show a young girl in her 20’s walking up to his house. He’s still on the roof of course. She should be waving at him.

NATALIE:

Hello there.

ALEX:

Do I know you?

NATALIE:

Well I live across the street, and I saw you on the roof here. So I thought I might give you some company.

Panel 3. Same shot as before, just make her not waving in this panel.

NATALIE:

So can I join you?

ALEX:

No offense, but I’m really not in the mood for company right now.

NATALIE:

That’s exactly why you should have some.

ALEX:

Panel 4. Last time I need this same shot, you can change up the angles and whatnot if you feel it’s getting repetitious. Alex should be pointing over his shoulder with a half smile on his face.

NATALIE:

So can I come up?

ALEX:

…The ladder is around back.

NATALIE:

Mind if I stop in your fridge?

ALEX:

Door’s unlocked.

NATALIE:

Thanks.

Panel 5. A close up shot of him on the roof as he waits for her to join him. He should look nervous and excited. No words in this panel, so you really need to say everything with the art. Maybe throw her coming up on the roof into the background.

Panel 6. She should be a lot closer now. I’m thinking standing next to him as he looks up at her, maybe have her midway sitting or something.

NATALIE:

So what are you doing up here by yourself anyway?

ALEX:

I was thinking about killing myself.

Panel 7. Their both sitting on the roof now, she should be looking over the edge and he should be looking at her.

NATALIE:

I think you’ll need to jump off something a little taller for that.

ALEX:

My father died this morning.

Panel 8. Same shot as before, they should both be looking at each other now. You should be able to tell from the dialogue what kind of looks they should have on their faces.

NATALIE:

Oh my god, I’m so sorry!

ALEX:

It was like he was happy to be dying.

Panel 9.Same shot again.

NATALIE:

He knew he was going to die, you should be happy that he was able to accept that. Remember, death is apart of life.

ALEX:

Not my life.

Panel 10. No words in this panel, just them staring at each other, maybe have them leaning closer toward each other.

Panel 11. The kiss panel.

PAGE 10 (8 panels, 4 rows. 1 panel in the first row, 3 panels in the second row, *2 panels in the third row, and 2 panel in the last row) [Panel 5 should be smaller then panel 6]

Panel 1. This is going to be Alex and Natalie’s wedding. Their only getting one panel for their wedding so make it make it nice, there is a bit of blood coming up after all.

CAPTION:

Two years later, we were married.

Panel 2. I need Alex on his back after falling down in his kitchen. Blood should be pooling around his head and Natalie should be in the background holding a mop (future mop?).

CAPTION:

We never talked about our mortality much.

Panel 3. A close up shot of Natalie crying over Alex. He should he look dead, eyes rolled up to the back of his head or something.

Panel 4. Same shot as before, but this time Alex is awake and holding her hand and she’ll be crying tears of joy instead of grief. You get the idea.

CAPTION:

Or my lack of one rather.

Panel 5. This is going to be some kind of passionate embrace between them still on the kitchen floor.

CAPTION:

We had each other, and that was enough.

Panel 6. This is going to be Alex and Natalie sitting in a doctors office as him gives them some bad news. Natalie should look older, I’m thinking 35ish.

CAPTION:

We tried to start a family, it’s something that we wanted to do for years and the time finally felt right.

Panel 7. Alright I’m envisioning this as a sort of travel montage panel showing at least maybe three locations. I was thinking maybe London, Paris, and Tokyo, but if you wanna change locations or cut it down to only two locations feel free.

CAPTION:

In the end we decided that we should travel instead, “See the world” as Natalie put it.

CAPTION:

I didn’t care, just so long as I was with her and we were away from our old lives. No more bad memories of my father, no more doctors that can’t fix things.

CAPTION:

It was just me and her.

PAGE 11 (8 panels, 4 rows. 2 panels each in the first two rows, 3 panels in the third row, and 1 panel in the last row)

Panel 1. Natalie is now 54 and Alex of course still looks young. He should be helping her up the steps of their new home in Australia.

CAPTION:

Eventually Natalie’s age caught up with her, and we choose to settle down in Australia.

Panel 2. Alex should be watching over a sleeping Natalie. He should look worried and sad.

CAPTION:

My father left me very well off, so I could spend all of my time with her.

CAPTION:

I didn’t remember where the money came from anymore, all I cared about was her.

Panels 3 & 4. In these two panels I need you to show Natalie having a stroke. I’m thinking have her clutching her chest in the first panel, and collapsed on the ground in the second one. Either in the kitchen or a garden, which ever you feel like drawing.

CAPTION:

I knew her age was catching up with her, and that soon I would have to say goodbye.

CAPTION:

I just didn’t know how soon.

Panel 5. This will be a shot of Alex on the phone (future phone), he should look very upset and frustrated.

CAPTION:

It turns out that Natalie was the last of the mortals. There were no nearby by hospitals, they all closed.

CAPTION:

There was no one to help her.

Panel 6. Another shot of Alex sitting next to Natalie as she lies in bed. The room should look like a makeshift hospital room this time around. So at least like an IV drip or something (future something). Have her reading as he sleeps in a chair beside her.

CAPTION:

All I could do is make her comfortable in her final days.

Panel 7. Alex crying over Natalie’s dead body, still in that same bedroom.

CAPTION:

I could never imagine how I would feel when she died, but when it finally happened it felt familiar.

CAPTION:

I almost thought about my father, but I pushed it away.

CAPTION:

Natalie was the only thing I had in this world, and now she was gone.

PAGE 12 (Splash)

Panel 1. This is Natalie’s funeral scene. Alex should be the only one there except for a very old priest. Make sure to put 3173 as her year of death on the tombstone, and her full name Natalie Sharpino Drake.

CAPTION:

That old man over there said that this was called a funeral, and that he could say some words to help her get into heaven.

CAPTION:

I had no idea what he was talking about, but it seemed to make him feel better when I gave him the okay.

CAPTION:

I couldn’t feel anything, I was dead inside.

PAGE 13 (5 panels, 3 rows. 1 panel each in the first two rows, and 3 panels in the last row.)

Panel 1. Okay, change of pace a little. This whole page is gonna be nothing but April O’Reilly and Bill O’Neil. Two news anchors giving a news report. I don’t really care what they look like, maybe you like those ridiculous names I gave them and wanna go full parody, up to you. Every panel is gonna be mostly the same, just make it look like any other news show (You know, except for it taking place in the year 3181).

BILL:

Good evening folks, I’m Bill O’Neil.

APRIL:

And I’m April O’Reilly.

Panel 2. They should be laughing in this panel. Not really laughing, but that fake news anchor laugh, you know the one. This might be way in the future, but I think fake news anchor laughs are something we’re gonna be stuck with. There should also be some sort of graphic probably between them, indicating that crime has gone down. You know how they do on the news. I was thinking one of those jagged arrow graphs, with the arrow pointing in a general downward direction. Have it say “Crime Rates Down” or something to that effect.

BILL:

Tonight we’re happy to report that crime rates across the globe have fallen drastically since the 3130’s.

APRIL:
That’s right Bill, thanks to the immortality gene there hasn’t been a murder in almost 50 years!

BILL:

I hardly even remember what murder is.

APRIL & BILL:

Hahahaha!

Panel 3. Pretty much the same here, just cut the laughing and change the graphic. I actually just thought of this and I’m probably just gonna make this myself, but I tell you in case you wanna try. The new graphic should be a DNA strand in an infinity loop, with “Immortality Gene” written underneath.

APRIL:

Same here Bill. In fact, that brings us to our next point.

BILL:

That’s right. Today scientists released their findings after an extensive 50 year study of the Immortality Gene.

Panel 4. Okay this is where you can changes things up, as I’m sure you’re sick of drawing April and Bill at this point. I was thinking this would be one of those full screen graphics that pop up in the news every now and then. It should have a silhouette of a pregnant woman with the words “Immortals can only bear one child” next to it. Below that should be a silhouette of a baby, with the words “Newborns have a 5% chance of being born mortal, even if both parents carry the immortal gene.” next to it. And finally below that should be the silhouette of a man with his brain also silhouetted inside his head, and the words “Immortals can only remember their last 100 years.” next to it. I know it’ll be tough be try to leave room for some word bubbles coming from off screen.

APRIL:

According to their report, immortal women become sterile after bearing only one child, and that child has a less then 3% chance of being mortal.

BILL:

That’s not all, the report also concludes that most immortals will have a hard time remembering more then 100 years at a time.

Panel 5. Back to April and Bill.

APRIL:

Well it’s a good thing we’re not that old yet, we won’t have to worry about it for awhile.

BILL:

Or at all according to the rest of the report! Scientists believe that these restrictions were placed in the immortality gene by the Gliesens, the alien race whose own genetic code gave us the immortality gene.

APRIL:

But why would they do that?

Panel 6. Just them again, I’m open to suggestions if you think something better should be here instead.

BILL:

Well there’s the silver lining April, scientists believe that these restrictions have saved us from overpopulation and will go own to save us from various types of mental illness that could occur had we the ability to remember more then our last 100 years.

APRIL:

So we just don’t have to worry about anything! That’s just great!

BILL:

That it is April! Now here’s Ted with the weather.

PAGE 14 (9 panels, 4 rows. 1 long panel that covers the length of the page, 2 panels in the first row, 1 panel in the second row, 2 panels in the third row, and 3 panels in the last row)

Panel 1. Okay so this is the year 5297, a little over 2000 years after Natalie’s death. You don’t really need to know that for this page, but keep it in mind for later. This should be a wide shot of a handmade cabin somewhere in the Mongolian wilderness, so mostly a landscape scene with the cabin off in the background.

CAPTION:

5297, two thousand years after Natalie’s death.

Panel 2. This next shot should show Alex putting the finishing touches on a hand made wooden bicycle. This should be happening in his work shed behind his cabin.

CAPTION:

It hurts to remember her, but I can’t seem to let go of her memory.

Panel 3. Now Alex and his wooden bike should be at the top of a hill in front of his cabin. He shouldn’t be on it yet, just standing next to it.

CAPTION:

I could hardly remember her name now.

Panel 4. Now a shot of Alex racing down the hill on his bike. Use lots of speed lines, he should be going very fast.

CAPTION:

I just wanted to be with her again.

Panel 5. A close up of his bike tire hitting a rock or a root or something.

Panel 6. A shot of Alex flying through the air as he is tossed from his bike.

CAPTION:

This was going hurt, but it’ll be worth it if I can see her again.

Panel 7. Alex should be tumbling down the hill now, be sure to make him a bloody mess.

Panel 8. Alex should be at the bottom of the hill now, and looking very dead.

Panel 9. Same shot as panel 8, I just need words in it now.

ALEX:

Shit…

CAPTION:

It didn’t work.

PAGE 15 (7 panels, 3 rows. 2 panels in the first two rows, and 3 panels in the last row)

Panel 1. A close up shot of Alex’s face. His eyes should be closed and he should be resting on a bed.

Panel 2. Same shot, but his eyes should be open now.

SAMUEL:

Good morning.

Panel 3. This is a wide shot now showing Samuel’s home. It has a very simple and modest decor, and is just one room (kitchen/bedroom). Samuel should be sitting in a chair next to the bed that Alex is in, and Alex should be sitting up now, using his arms for support. Samuel should have an overturned book in his lap. He should be 35 with a mini beard, wearing jeans and a sweater. Alex’s clothes should still be blood stained.

ALEX:

Unnh… Where am I?

SAMUEL:

I brought you back to my house, I found you passed out about a mile from here in a pool of blood and pieces of whatever you were riding.

Panel 4. Same shot as before, but Alex and Samuel should be shaking hands now.

ALEX:

Thanks um…

SAMUEL:

Samuel Esther at your service.

ALEX:

Alex, nice to meet you.

Panel 5. The hand shaking is over. Alex should be sitting all the way up now, using the wall for support instead of his arms. They should just be talking now.

SAMUEL:

So Alex, what brought you to out to Mongolia?

ALEX:
It’s a long story. So what about you, I thought I was the only hermit in these parts?

SAMUEL:

I came up here about 15 years ago to pray.

Panel 6. More of them talking. Alex should look a little confused here.

ALEX:
Praying?

SAMUEL:

That’s right, I forgot you Immortals abandoned all religion a long time ago.

ALEX:

Re-what?

Panel 7. More talking. Sorry about the monotony, I’ll try to wrap up this conversation up as quickly as possible.

SAMUEL:

How about this, you tell me what brought you to Mongolia, and I’ll tell you about religion.

ALEX:

Ha, alright you’ve peeked my interest. I gotta warn you though, it’s a really long story.

SAMUAL:

That’s alright, so is mine.

PAGE 16 (3 panels, 3 rows. 1 panel per row)

Panel 1. Ok this is gonna be more talking, for the rest of the page too. I suggest playing around with the perspective in each panel. In this panel Alex should look like he’s thinking and have a half smile on his face, Samuel should look apologetic.

ALEX:

I’m not sure where I should begin.

SAMUEL:

Was it because of a girl?

ALEX:

Ha, it sounds so stupid when you put it like that.

SAMUEL:

Sorry, please go on.

Panel 2. More talking. They should both look empathic.

ALEX:

You ever been in love Samuel?

SAMUEL:

Once upon a time.

ALEX:

I don’t feel complete anymore without her.

SAMUEL:

Did she leave you?

Panel 3. More talking while looking empathic.

ALEX:

Yeah, but not the way you’re thinking. She was a mortal, and I loved her till her last breath. Over two thousand years and I still haven’t gotten over her. The worst part of it is I can’t remember her name anymore. I mean I heard about memory problems that immortals get, but I never thought that her name would be taken from me.

SAMUEL:

It’s impressive that you still remember her at all.

ALEX:

Well if you can manage to keep certain memories on mind, then you can remember it long after it’s happened. But I guess some details get lost once you get to my age.

SAMUEL:

How old are you?

ALEX:

The oldest.

PAGE 17 (4 panels, 3 rows. 2 panels in the first row, 1 panel in the second row, and 1 panel in the last row)

Panel 1. Okay, to change it up a bit I’m thinking this should have a close up of Samuel’s face talking on the left side of the panel, and the right side should have a news paper with the headline reading “WORLD’S OLDEST MAN DISSAPEARS!” Stick a picture of Alex below the headline.

SAMUEL:

Alex Drake?

ALEX:

Yeah that’s me, but how did you know that?

SAMUEL:

You’re practically a legend back in the real world. The world’s oldest man dropped off the face of the planet. Did you really not expect people to talk?

ALEX:

Wow, I guess I should have seen it coming. I was so focused on my problems that I never considered the rest of the world.

Panel 2. This will be a flash back panel. I’m thinking around 3557, a few hundred years after Natalie’s death. Alex is in an office looking very sad and drinking.

SAMUEL:

So what have you been doing all these years?

ALEX:

Well after she died I tried to keep up the normal life that I built for myself, but I couldn’t take it for long. All of our friends forgot that I was ever married, it was like she never existed. I tried to forget about her with work and booze, but her memory persisted.

Panel 3. Still in flashback mode. I need Alex’s SUV (future SUV?) crashing over the side of one of those spaghetti roads. He can be driving whatever you want, I just felt like it should be an SUV, or you know whatever passes for an SUV in 3557.

ALEX:

One night the alcohol caught up with me in the worst way. Looking back on it now, I think I wanted it to.

Panel 4. Now I’m not sure how exactly to explain this, but I’m sure you can imagine what the aftermath of driving off one of those spaghetti roads would look like. For arguments sake lets say he was on the top level road when he drove off. Maybe show Alex in the wreckage in the process of healing himself. And remember, future cars.

ALEX:

I was so angry that lived, but the accident did give me the push I needed to leave my empty life behind.

PAGE 18 (6 panels, 3 rows. 2 panels in the first row, 3 panels in the second row, and 1 panel in the last row)

Panel 1. Close up shot of Alex talking, still in Samuel’s place. He should look really sad.

ALEX:

I thought that if I could just get away from everything, and be alone with my thoughts I would be able to get a gripe. But being alone just made things worse…

ALEX:

I don’t really remember when I started trying to kill myself, but it doesn’t matter. Death will never find me.

Panel 2. Okay I picture this as a travel montage panel. Maybe have an airplane flying over the top of the panel with the rest of the panel filled with different exotic and secluded locations from around the world and even Mars. I the center is Alex with his back turned to the camera as he walks away. Or you know, something to that effect.

SAMUEL:

Was Mongolia your first choice?

ALEX:

I wish. First I tried the Martian colonies, but that didn’t work out. Then I spent some time in the middle east, the Australian outback, Antarctica, Africa, and finally here to Mongolia.

Panel 3. Another shot of Samuel and Alex talking. Alex still looks bummed out.

SAMUEL:

Still haven’t found what you’re looking for though?

ALEX:

No, and I’m beginning to doubt that I ever will.

SAMUEL:

So if you really wanna die, then why don’t you just starve yourself like the others?

Panel 4. Them talking still. Alex should look really surprised, almost shocked.

ALEX:

Others! What others?!

SAMUEL:

You haven’t heard about the immortal suicides in all your travels?

Panel 5. Them talking again. Take Alex’s shocked look from before and add a bit of excitement to it.

ALEX:

I’ve been up here for a few hundred years, and it’s hard to get news when your off the grid.

SAMUEL:

Well it turns out that your not the first immortal to want to kill yourself.

ALEX:

How’d they do it? I’ve tried everything!

Panel 6. Alex should look like he’s having an epiphany, and Samuel should look solemn.

SAMUEL:

They starved themselves. Without food the immortality gene in their bodies broke down, and they just withered away.

ALEX:

… I… I can’t believe I’ve never tried that.

SAMUEL:

Perhaps you did not want to die as much as you thought you did.

ALEX:

PAGE 19 (4 panels, 4 rows. 1 panel per row)

Panel 1. Them talking again. Alex should look lost in thought, and Samuel should look empathic.

SAMUEL:

Well in any case it was an interesting story.

ALEX:

SAMUEL:

Are you ready for mine now?

Panel 2. More talking, sorry for the monotony.

ALEX:

Yeah, what was it again? Re-something?

SAMUEL:

Religion.

ALEX:

Yeah, what’s that mean again?

SAMUEL:

It’s the belief and worship of God.

ALEX:

God?

Panel 3. Okay I’m thinking this could be a panorama of a few different images, but if it’s easier to split it into separate panels then go for it. The far left of the panel should be a shot of the Earth being created by the hand of God, I was thing just some giant hands molding the Earth but if you have a better way to represent it then go for it. Next in the middle should be a group of ancient people worshiping God in a temple, I’m thinking some time in the B.C. Era. Last on the far right should be Samuel talking.

SAMUEL:

God created the heavens, the Earth and everything that dwells on it.

SAMUEL:

Man was his greatest creation for he made man in his image. Mankind loved their God and worshiped him for everything he has done for them.

SAMUEL:

But mankind has forgotten their lord now that they live forever.

Panel 4. Alex and Samuel talking again.

ALEX:

If we forgot then how do you remember? And what would being immortal have to do with that?

SAMUEL:

People used to worship God and obey his commandants because he promised them heaven after they died. Take away death and you take away the need for heaven and the need for God.

ALEX:

Sorry, heaven?

PAGE 20 (5 panels, 3 rows. 1 panel each in the first and second row, and 3 panels in the last row)

Panel 1. More talking. Alex should look very passionate about what hes saying.

SAMUEL:

Do you really want to know about this, or are you just being polite?

ALEX:
I defiantly want to know more! If what you say is true then religion could have been what he was talking about!

SAMUEL:

What who was talking about?

Panel 2. I think the left side of this panel should be a flashback to Karl’s death, and the right side should be Alex and Samuel talking still. Samuel should look impressed with Alex’s memory, and Alex should look excited.

ALEX:

My father… Before he died he told me that society will be changed forever because of what he did. I didn’t understand what he meant then, but what if he was talking about religion?

SAMUEL:

Your father Karl Drake? He died over two thousand years ago, you really do have a good memory.

ALEX:
Like I said before, you just have to keep it on mind.

Panel 3. More talking.

SAMUEL:

Okay, I will teach you the ways of the lord, but you must swear to completely commit yourself to his teachings.

ALEX:

I swear! I’m ready and eager to learn.

Panel 4. More talking. They both should look pretty happy.

SAMUEL:

That’s good to hear, I believe God has a plan for us.

ALEX:

I hope so Samuel.

SAMUEL:

In time you will know so.

Panel 5. More talking.

ALEX:

So do you think we could start with what heaven is?

SAMUEL:

Yes, I think that would be a great place to start.

PAGE 21 (4 panels, 3 rows. 1 panel in the first row, 2 panels in the second row, and 1 panel in the last row)

Panel 1. Aerial shot of Samuel’s mountain cabin.

CAPTION:

Ten years. That’s how long I stayed in Samuel’s Cabin learning everything I could about religion.

CAPTION:

It should have been like the blink of an eye for someone as old as me, but it was the longest ten years of my life.

Panel 2. Samuel baptizing Alex in a nearby stream.

CAPTION:

Samuel changed how I looked at the world, and opened my eyes to a whole new me. I lived for God in everything I did now.

Panel 3. Alex and Samuel reading the Bible together in Samuel’s cabin. Have them pointing at passages and talking to each other.

CAPTION:

We went through the Bible together, and I had him explain every parable to me.

CAPTION:

Soon I rivaled him in biblical knowledge.

Panel 4. This should be a close up shot of Samuel sleeping, with a glowing white hand touching his forehead.

CAPTION:

We couldn’t follow all of God’s commandants while in Mongolia though. So one day God gave us a little push in the right direction.

PAGE 22 (5 panels, 4 rows. 2 panels in the first row, and 1 panel each in the next three rows)

Panel 1. Same shot as the last panel, except it’s daylight now, the hand is gone and Samuel’s eyes are open.

SAMUEL:

My God…

Panel 2. A shot of Samuel’s kitchen/dinning room. Alex is eating breakfast at the table as Samuel comes running in very excited looking. Alex should look surprised as he struggles not to choke on his food.

SAMUEL:

I had a vision from God! I know what we must do now.

Panel 3. Their both talking in the kitchen now.

ALEX:

Really! What did he say?

SAMUEL:

You must return to the world, and spread the good news of God.

ALEX:

But what about you? I can’t just leave you out here after everything.

Panel 4. In the kitchen talking still. Samuel should have his hand on Alex’s shoulder, reassuring him.

SAMUEL:

I won’t be staying here, but I still won’t be able to come with you. God has other plans for me. I will find you once the time is right though, I need you to gather more followers while I prepare.

ALEX:

But who out there would listen to me? You said they had no use for God since they were all immortal.

SAMUEL:

They all have use for God, they just don’t realize it yet.

Panel 5. A shot of Alex with a big backpack on, walking away from Samuel’s cabin with a small smile on his face.

CAPTION:

And so I left Mongolia. I wasn’t sure if I’d ever see Samuel again. But I had faith.
